In Böblingen, two innovative cora IT vending machines ensure an efficient and smooth process for the issue and return of IT equipment.

The district of Böblingen is located in the immediate vicinity of the state capital Stuttgart and is primarily known as a business location. Highly innovative industries characterize its strongly export-oriented economy. Around 2,200 employees work in the Böblingen district office.

Initial situation

The Böblingen District Office (LRABB) had been considering the idea of implementing an IT vending machine for some time. The manual issue of IT assets via the counter led to a considerable amount of work for the IT team in terms of coordinating appointments, issuing hardware and regular inquiries from users.

When looking for a suitable device, the self-service capability of the solution was extremely important. On the other hand, independence from brands and systems as well as a powerful back-end were given high priority.

From the very first time we got to know cora, we were impressed by its innovative features and the extensive functions of the cora Cloud. Features that could not be found in competitor offerings.

cora thus fully met the requirements and was therefore chosen for use at LRABB.

Implementation

The implementation of cora went smoothly and met expectations right from the start. The cooperation with the responsible Customer Success Managers and the technical support team enriched the process enormously. They provided indispensable support during the introduction of cora and the adaptation to the specific use cases of LRABB.

Today, cora is used in various application areas: IT peripherals and cables can be obtained from cora via self-service. Thanks to the integration of cora into the ITSM tool Serviceware, users can order the desired items online and collect them easily from cora.

In addition, cora offers the option of exchanging or returning devices outside of LRABB Service Point opening hours, which represents a significant gain in flexibility for all employees

Successes

The introduction of cora has significantly minimized the interruptions experienced by the IT team on a day-to-day basis. The time-consuming manual processing of each individual hardware issue and return is now a thing of the past thanks to cora. These processes are now mainly handled as part of the self-service principle. This enables more planned work and leaves more capacity for the implementation of more complex tasks. Every week, the IT team ensures that the cora vending machines are stocked with new products, which has led to a significant reduction in operating costs.

The positive feedback from the staff is particularly noteworthy. The advantages of this solution quickly became apparent and as a result, interest in cora was high right from the start. The simple self-service process and the user experience with cora are very popular. In addition, the round-the-clock availability of IT equipment through cora is considered very valuable.

Outlook

Due to its great success, LRABB is planning to expand the use cases deployed with cora. In the future, it is planned to provide laptops without pre-installed software in the vending machine so that they can be configured individually and directly in cora with the user's specific installation if required.

There are also plans to store notebooks in cora as rental devices, which can also be flexibly borrowed and returned in self-service.
